A Christmas Time Favorite!

Coconut Bread
4 eggs beaten
2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
2 tsp coconut flavoring
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup coconut
1 cup walnuts
Preheat oven to 300*. Mix all ingredients together and put in greased bread pan. Cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes. After it is cooked and toothpick comes out clean when you stick it in the middle of loaf, take out of oven and tip over on plate. While it is cooling, mix syrup.
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 TBLS butter
Boil for 5 minutes. Then add 1 tsp coconut flavoring. Pour over bread while it is still warm. Let it cool before cutting.
We love this recipe and make it often for neighbors and friends during the Holidays. Hope you enjoy this as much as we do.
